- Margaret Clauder
You need a performer who arrives on time, with a program that engages the audience, isn't over their heads, and ties in with books. Margaret offers several wonderful programs for libraries.
Margaret has 25+ years experience as a professional arts in education performer . Her art forms include storytelling, puppetry, ventriloquism, magic, and even comedy. The humor keeps the audience attentive as they search for the next funny moment. You often see children laughing hard at the silliness in Margaret's shows as they learn important lessons, such as what are the types of precipitation, why do animals become endangered, or what exactly is a rhyming word? She genuinely loves performing and loves children. Margaret's heart touches her audience. Children fall in love with her original characters and puppets, building an emotional attachment by the end of the show that will cause them to recall important lessons days, weeks, and even months later.

The Hero is Within YOU!
Bullying is a serious subject and children need to know how to deal with it. In this program, children will learn about the 3 types of bullying - physical, relationship, and verbal. They will learn how to deal with bullies using their words and not physical violence. Children will participate in learning the difference between put-downs and put-ups. Through the use of skillful storytelling with audience involvement, children will become sensitive to the effects bullying can cause and learn how to become empowered to make the right choices in order to not become a bully themselves and how to deal with bullies in a positive way.
Weather Wonders with Meteorologist Maggie
What substance can be found in nature as both a solid, a liquid, or a gas? Water is the only substance that can take on these many forms - naturally! Meteorologist Maggie will perform magic that will demonstrate various weather and water cycle phenomena, such as evaporation, water vapor, snow and more. Children will learn concepts such as condensation, precipitation, transpiration, and collection. Puppet sidekicks such as Cloudia, the cumulonimbus cloud, and Chili the penguin will help teach fascinating weather facts including how tornadoes are formed, what exactly is lightning, and where is the largest desert on earth? Hint: It's NOT the Sahara!
Reading and Rhyming with the original Mother Goose
Margaret's original Mother Goose character has traveled throughout the USA performing her popular "Reading and Rhyming" program for 25+ years. With the help of her adorable puppets Goosey, Lamby, Mary, Itsy Bitsy Spider and more, children become engaged in helping Mother Goose act out the rhymes as eager audience volunteers. They always ask "how did those puppets talk?" Margaret's ventriloquism skills are excellent, and children will really believe that they are in Storybook land as rhymes come to life as they play "the Mother Goose rhyming game". Sometimes even a naughty adult may be called on to help as a volunteer! Children will come away from the performance ready to write their own rhymes and seek out the books Mother Goose recommends in her program.
Let's Read with THE Bookworm
THE Bookworm is a life size caterpillar that reads voraciously. Children love to listen to the stories "Sylvester and the Magic Pebble" by William Steig, "Kat Kong" by Dav Pilkey, and "Mean Soup" by Betsy Everett. These stories are brought to life with original props, magic, puppets, comedy, and even audience participation. Children will sit on the edge of their seats listening intently and laughing hysterically as comedy and mayhem ensue. The Bookworm will encourage children to become voracious readers like she is, and seek out ALL the books the library has to offer by these popular authors.
Fiesta de Mexico with Senorita Margarita
Latino culture is very important in the state of Texas. Clad in a traditional Folklorico dress, "Senorita Margarita" will bring a celebration of all things Latino into the classroom or library. She will tell the Cuban folktale, "Martina the Beautiful Cockroach" with her hilarious voices and style. Children will learn a new version of the song "La Cucaracha" with the help of Margarita's silly puppet friend Maria Rosita Conchita Louisa Smith. This is an award winning ventriloquist routine that Margaret has performed all over Texas to delighted audiences. Children will observe Margarita performing the traditional dance "La Raspa," also known as "the hat dance" along with audience volunteers wearing colorful sombreros and shaking maracas. Finally, Margarita will bring the house down with her mariachi marionette, Mariachi Loco, as he dances and plays his trumpet as his pants fall off!
We had so much fun that we ask her to come back next year as well because I can't wait for Mother Goose.
